DFW Wing Announces "Navy to Normandy" Tour with Douglas R4D
Dallas, TX, November 12, 2023 - The DFW Wing’s Douglas R4D “Ready 4 Duty” is joining the D-Day Squadron to travel to Normandy, France, to commemorative the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
While there, “Ready 4 Duty” will represent the contributions of the U.S. Navy by leading the Navy to Normandy Tour, a multiweek mission where she will drop paratroopers, offer special heritage rides to the public, and serve as a mobile WWII U.S. Naval museum, giving thousands the chance to explore her historic interior and step back to 1944.

"Ready 4 Duty" is Bringing Battleship Texas back to Normandy
Galveston, TX, April 10, 2024 -- Two esteemed non-profit organizations, the Battleship Texas Foundation, and the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) will jointly commemorative the 80th anniversary of the Invasion of Normandy. Commonly known as D-Day, the battle began on June 6, 1944. This summer, the CAF will dispatch aircraft to Europe to partake in commemorative events, paying homage to the significance of this pivotal moment in history.
On board the CAF's Douglas R4D will be historic artifacts from the Battleship Texas. The Battleship was a part of the Navy force that day that sent shells onto French soil.
